Documenting stories from former clinicians, innovators, and educators in government-run health systems.

Why highlight government-run healthcare agencies & institutions?

During my career, I was immersed in government-run health systems; I trained as a doctor at a veterans hospital, a public safety-net institution, and a state university academic medical center. My public health orientation developed further through my work at the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and while leading a research unit within Cook County's health system. Before retiring from Cook County in 2024, I had the privilege of collaborating with many mission-driven professionals dedicated to promoting the health of all people.

I embraced the advice to surround yourself with great people—I found those individuals in government-run systems. In these interviews, I document the humbling and inspiring stories of those who built or led impactful programs of excellence with a focus on mission. They inspired countless individuals and I expect that they will inspire you, too.
